Theatre  Three  Dramatic  Academy  Summer  2023

Our mission is to offer the best educational acting experience. Our experienced teachers help participants explore their creativity, expand their skills, and experience live theatre in new ways, all while having fun. We believe any student should have a chance to be on stage. We create a safe space for all students to try new things

All acting workshops meet twice a week for 5 weeks. Classes begin July 10th or 11th.

 *CHILDREN’S THEATRE PRODUCTION for ACTING WORKSHOPS


THEATRE THREE continues to provide a unique opportunity for its older students. All students in Pre-Teen, Teen, and Advanced Teen classes are eligible to appear in the final production of our Children’s Summer Season along with THEATRE THREE’s professional Acting Company. Students will have the opportunity to audition for small speaking roles and will be able to work side-by-side with working professional artists.
This season we will be presenting the world premiere of ALICE’S MOST DECIDELY UNUSUAL ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, written by Artistic Director Jeffrey Sanzel and Artistic Associate Douglas J. Quattrock.

PLEASE NOTE:
Participation will require rehearsal time outside of regular class time. Students must be available for ALL rehearsals and ALL performances to be eligible.

Faculty

 

SUZIE DUNN (Dean of Dramatic Academy/Instructor Pre-Teen I & II) Teaching career began at THEATRE THREE at age eighteen teaching classes ages 6 through 17. BFA in Theatre; MA in Elementary Education. Seven years a teacher of dance and drama Oakland Garden Elementary School, New York City; Arts Liaison between school The New York City Blueprint for The Arts, working with teaching artists from across the world. Assisted in writing the Arts Standards for New York State. Proud co-founder of The Cue Theatre, an educational lab theatre that works with hundreds of students throughout the capital region. She is the author of a curriculum for Arts- in-Education “Cue the Classroom” launched throughout the Albany City School District in 2014. She appeared on Central Park’s Delacorte stage in The Public Theatre’s TWELFTH NIGHT (summer 2016) and AS YOU LIKE IT (summer 2017). Recently relocated to Long Island, she was seen on THEATRETHREE’S stage in A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

JEFFREY SANZEL (Executive Artistic Director) BFA in Acting & Directing from Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. With THEATRE THREE since 1989. Appointed Artistic Director July 1993. Director of over two hundred productions including the 2015 Musical Theatre Factory II's production of GODSPELL, JR. As a playwright, his works have included WHERE THERE'$ A WILL; 1968: ROCK THE WORLD; FROM THE FIRES: VOICES OF THE HOLOCAUST; FAIR ENOUGH; and many children's theatre and educational productions. In addition to directing and playing Scrooge, he has provided THEATRE THREE's adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL for the past three decades. Currently, he is a Consulting Artist for New York City's 92Y Musical Theatre for Young Audiences program.
